Hi! So I’m Irene Callista and my Wattpad account is IreneCallista07. The main reason for this blog post is that I want you to learn more about me and how I got into writing and also everything I have learned in this passion of mine.

Ever since I was a kid, I already had a love for books. Instead of playing with dolls and Lego, I would always go in one of our bookshelves and read a book. I even love playing pretend where I am a teacher teaching the students using different books that I have read. It was a really memorable experience!

I never really started writing until I was 6 years old. It was required in our English class to write different essays on different topics. That was when I discovered my love for writing. Words and ideas seemed to overflow my mind and I had so much that I wanted to write. I continued writing short stories, essays and poems until Grade 4. Then, I started my first novel in Grade 5! It was a pride for me. I worked really hard for it but sadly, it became a part of the junk. My mother accidently threw it away. I cried that night.

I never stopped writing. I wrote poems, songs, and stories. I also wrote articles and essays. I became more loving towards the world of words and ideas. Then, I learned how to play the guitar and that’s when I immersed myself in songwriting and poetry.

I actually started my novel in Wattpad right now when I was in eighth grade but I deleted it since I knew I had to improve the plot holes and plan it all clearly. I spent the whole year working on the research while trying to maintain my schedule. Now that I’m in ninth grade, I was able to sum up my courage and publish my book so here I am!

I keep myself motivated in writing through music. Music inspires me a lot. It helps me to express myself in numerous various ways. It helps me achieve the serenity I want in my heart and mind whenever I write. Another thing that motivates me is talking to my friends. They just bring off that positive vibe that just really inspires me to be positive in my writing as well and do it.

In writing, I have realized that you should not focus on getting compliments from someone or competing with the other writers. Writing is all about expressing you and only you so express yourself. Others may give you advice on how to improve your writing but that doesn’t mean that you have to change yourself in the process.

Do not be afraid to take advice from other people. They would really help you a lot! Be it may a compliment or a constructive criticism, accept it wholeheartedly and use it in order to improve your writing style. Another advice I have is to never stop editing. You could never have a perfectly edited novel but that doesn’t mean you can’t edit it in the best way possible. Just edit, edit and edit using the suggestions around you and your own opinions as well and you’ll improve your story in no time.

Lastly, never stop believing yourself. I know sometimes it seems like the world is against you, that your writing was never successful or you’re not talented according to other people. Don’t give up. A failure is only a failure when you think of it as a failure. If you were not able to meet the expectations of other people, then tell yourself that this was just a learning experience instead of a failure. In that way, you’ll be able to believe in yourself and achieve whatever goals you might have may it be in writing or in other aspects. Good luck writing and byeeeeee!
